Exciting new kitchen design trends on the horizon

Jurassic Kitchens & Living Spaces owner, Jon Axon, knows that there are some exciting new kitchen design trends on the horizon that are poised to take the interior design world by storm.

One of the biggest trends you can expect to see everywhere is a shift towards warmer, earthier colour palettes. Think terracotta, burnt orange, olive green, and golden yellows. These rich, inviting hues will add a cosy and organic feel to the heart of the home. Natural materials like wood, stone, and clay will also be hugely popular, bringing a sense of texture and depth to kitchen surfaces and accents. Imagine butcher block countertops, exposed wooden beams, and hand-thrown ceramic bowls and mugs.

Another major kitchen trend in 2025 will be a blending of modern and vintage elements for an eclectic, collected look. Sleek stainless steel appliances will be paired with antique brass fixtures, while modern slab cabinet fronts will be juxtaposed with traditional shaker-style kitchen islands. Mixing and matching in this way will give kitchens a unique character and charm.

Smart technology will become even more integrated into kitchen design, with voice-activated faucets, refrigerators that suggest recipes based on their contents, and ovens that automatically adjust cook times and temperatures.

At the same time, there will be a growing appreciation for artisan, handmade elements that counterbalance all the high-tech gadgetry and lend a sense of warmth and humanity to the space. Open-concept kitchens will still be going strong in 2025, but with the addition of flexible features that allow the space to be reconfigured as needed, whether that’s a sliding door that can close off the kitchen during dinner parties or a mobile island that can be rolled into another room.

The lines between the kitchen and other living areas will become increasingly blurred as the kitchen evolves into a multifunctional space for cooking, dining, working, and hanging out.

Bringing the outdoors in will be another huge kitchen trend, with large windows, retractable glass walls, and plenty of potted herbs and plants to create a bright, airy, garden-like feel. If you’re planning a kitchen reno anytime between now and 2026, keep these forecasted trends in mind. Don’t forget you’re always welcome to discuss your next kitchen with myself or one of my kitchen designers.
